Well, I don't like it when a player can wait until after a season has started to make his mind up about playing. I understand it can be a tough decison but I just dont think it is fair to the fans but especially to the other players who have to go through the training camp and exhibition games and the first part of a season and then another player can just waltz in and start playing.
I am a Canuck fan and would not mind seeing Sundin play for them but not if he waits until after the season has started to decide (I would take the offer off the table).
Yes, he earned the right to wait until making a decison but like Sakic did, the decision should be made prior to training camp.
I realize I am just a fan and not the GM making the decisions who really has to consider all other factors such as will the player make them better and at what cost but it still irks me.

well poorboy.. that seems to be a trend.

see temmu selane, and rob neidermeyer, look at it this way.. if he comes back it could be later on if he changes his mind..
i agree.. its not fair, but until someone starts penalizing players for doing this. Im afraid the trend is going to catch on to older players in the league. i like to think its classless as well .There is a reason SUNDIN, has never won a Stanley Cup with any of his teams in the NHL.

Here are some classy older players in the league that i can think of who i could think of off the top of my head, who wouldnt do that to thier fans and thier respected teams.

Brodeur and Scott Stevens
Mark Messier and Brian Leetch
Steve Yzerman, chelios.

SUNDIN, SELLANE, AND ROB N.

classless.. i hope they get injured first day they come back.
