Couldn't happen to a better guy. All I saw was him walking down the tunnel, sweat ozzing out of his big, fat, blue shirt not wanting to talk to anybody. As much as we all have longed for a Triple Crown winner, this is the only moment in the history where I can say is "who gives a damn." That self assertiveness, cocky, self confident prick desevres every moment in his so-called sun. He can talk a lot of shit, but come the next year, no steriods to horses (which he is good at.)
This is a good lesson for people that don't show class.

I am going to respectfully disagree.
You can't blame Rick for being overconfident. If you were the trainer or part of ownership and saw up close what this horse had done in every race until the Belmont, you too wouldn't have any thoughts on him losing.
A cracked hoof is common in horse racing and a lot of horses run with it just like Big Brown did. Do you really think for a moment he was going to be scratched? Do you know what would have happened if he scratched Big Brown. We won't even talk television coverage, but the promotion, buzz and hype the sport needs so badly would have been instead a public outcry of outrage. If for one second you think I am wrong, guess again.
This reminds of disappointments with Arazi, Point Given's KY Derby run, Fusachi Pegasus... remember them.. the invincible horses who all failed.
If you follow horse racing this really isn't a surprise, we all know about the 1/9 and 2/5 horses in other races that don't hit the board or don't fire. These afterall are animals, they don't speak and we have no idea if the hoof is the problem or not. Big Brown can't tell us, we can only guess, second guess and have a theory. Nothing more.
Rick did what he was supposed to do, talk big, promote, and excite non racing fans into coming or viewing the race. It will be interesting to see the ratings ABC had on the race.
A post a day and your access will stay!

Being overconfident is one thing. The way that he presented his overconfidence is another. There are different ways to express yourself and I believe that Rick did not do it with any class at all.
And lets remember, Big Brown had only 3 outs in his life leading up to the Kentucky Derby. His first being on the turf. Most have 7 or more. Maybe he peeked early and we don't really know how good this horse really is. I do, however, agree that I thought we were going to have our first Triple Crown in 30 years.
As far as the cracked hoof, look what happened to Casino Drive, Big Brown's main rival. They found he had a sore foot and took him out of the race. I believe if Big Browns cracked hoof was more to it, they would have scratched him as well. This sport just went through heavy scrutiny with what happened to Eight Bells. We can't afford that again. If Kent had to pull up Big Brown because of the hoof, all hell would have broken loose. Maybe this was a no win situation.
As far as the ratings, I understand they were very good.
Good insight Freak. Well, there's always next year!!!

One last problem I have with Dutrow is that he can't shut his fat ass up!! He keeps on blaming somebody else on his own miscues. Now it is Kent D. that didn't give him the ride that Rick wanted him to.
If anybody saw the race, we all know that Big Brown is a freak just like War Emblem. (War Emblem is a piece of shit,) Big Brown could not stand staying on the inside so the horse wanted to go outside while bumping (I believe) Anak Nakal. The horse just was not into it. I could tell that Big Brown was not going to win that race after 1/2 mile into the race. It wasn't because of of the so called "bad ride" that Dutrow said. Big Brown was agistated and it was because of the lack of streriods that Dutrow gave him.
Big Brown was shot up with LEGAL steriods before the Kentucky Derby, and before the Preakness, but why was he not shot up before the Belmont???? One more thing, why did Denis of Cork pay only $4 and change to show when a 1-5 shot was out of the money?
To many questions and not enough answers.
In any case, I see no other trainer in this nation that I know that would talk the way Rick Dutrow talks.
This guy just needs to shut up the fuck up!!!!
Questions? Reactions? Rebuttle?
