Lexington S. (G2) winner SHOWING UP (Strategic Mission) and Crown Royal American Turf S. (G3) hero STREAM CAT (Black Minnaloushe) are top draws for Saturday's $1 million Colonial Turf Cup S. An overflow of 17 three-year-olds was entered for the 1 3/16-mile contest at the Virginia oval, but only 14 will be allowed to start. Showing Up will make his turf debut for trainer Barclay Tagg after finishing sixth in the Kentucky Derby (G1), his first career setback following three straight wins. The chestnut colt drew the rail with jockey Cornelio Velasquez.
Stream Cat will start from post 2 along with the nation's leading rider by wins, Julien Leparoux. The Patrick Biancone-trained colt is two for two this year, winning the Crown Royal American Turf first time out in early May and the Pin Oak Stud USA S. at Lone Star Park most recently. The dark bay also captured last year's Kentucky Cup Juvenile S. (G3). Bill Mott has a dangerous contestant in GO BETWEEN (Point Given). Winner of the Palm Beach S. (G3) in his stakes debut in mid-March, Go Between just missed last time as the 7-5 favorite in the Crown Royal American Turf, finishing a neck back of Stream Cat in second.

Turf stakes winner LEWIS MICHAEL (Rahy) merits respect off a close runner-up finish in the Peter Pan S. (G2). OUTPERFORMANCE (Aptitude) enters the Colonial Turf Cup off a nice win in the June 9 Hill Prince S. (G3) at Belmont for trainer Richard Violette. Woodlawn S. victor ROCK LOBSTER (Mt. Livermore), the Todd Pletcher-trained ROMAN DYNASTY (Theatrical [Ire]), and Forerunner S. runner-up YATE'S BLACK CAT (Black Minnaloushe) are also part of the deep field.

The complete line-up, from the rail with jockeys, is Showing Up; Stream Cat; INTERNATIONAL CAT (Cat Thief), Eduardo Tejera; Outperformance, Javier Castellano; Roman Dynasty, Mike Luzzi; PRIME DIAMOND (Prime Timber), Ramon Dominguez; Lewis Michael, Mark Guidry; Rock Lobster, Joe Rocco; UNBRIDLED BEHAVIOR (Unbridled's Song), no rider; CAN'T BEAT IT (Atticus), Eddie Castro; Yate's Black Cat, Rene Douglas; CHIN HIGH (Smart Strike), no rider; Go Between, Garrett Gomez; and KIP DEVILLE (Kipling), Edgar Prado.
