Orlando Jordan vs. Chris Benoit for the U.S. title is opening up the PPV. Benoit won with the crossface in 25 seconds.

Edge vs. Matt Hardy

This was weird. They stiffed each other with every shot and came out like a million miles an hour. Edge just beat the crap out of him after Hardy juiced after head hit the post. They stopped it in 4:00 on blood.

I guess Hardy had to pay penance tonight because I haven't seen an all out burial like this in years.

Guerrero vs. Mysterio in the ladder match.

Mysterio won another weird one. This wasn't the level of some of the more famous ladder matches, but both guys took a lot of punishment. Dominick interfered once to keep Eddie from winning. Eddie got so mad he was about to hit Dominick when Mysterio made the big comeback. Still, Eddie had it won again when Vicki Guerrero knocked over the ladder causing Eddie to take a big bump. Mysterio climbed up and as Eddie went to knock over the ladder, Vicki Guerrero tackled Eddie and Mysterio got the briefcase to win. After the match, Mysterio, his wife and Dominick all hugged and Mysterio clocked Eddie with a briefcase shot. Lots of fans were cheering for Guerrero and the chants were all for "Eddie."

Kurt Angle vs. Eugene with no time limit.

Angle was super aggressive since they were going short. Crowd hated Eugene, booing every bit of offense except when he hit the stunner. Angle won clean and fast with the ankle lock. The key line was Jim Ross saying that if Angle wrestled every match like this, nobody could touch him. Angle got his medal back. Angle got a standing ovation when they put the medal back on him. Since Angle is getting a title shot on the next PPV, this was exactly what they should have done.

Undertaker vs. Randy Orton.

Mostly Orton working the left leg. Orton won with the RKO when Bob Orton, dressed in a disguise, distracted Undertaker. Solidly worked match.

John Cena vs. Chris Jericho

Of course Cena won with the FU. Even with Cena's bad looking offense, this was the best match so far. Crowd turned on Cena for the most part. It seemed like the guys were for Jericho and women & kids for Cena. Lots of pro Jericho chants. One spot with dueling chants and this wasn't like a TNA dueling chant because of the match but fans for both guys trying to make the most noise, so this had a great atmsophere. Fans went nuts whenever it appeared Jericho would win. Tremendous performance by Jericho here. Crowd did cheer Cena's win, however.

JBL vs. Batista

Short match. Batista used a power bomb, then refused to pin JBL. He did a second power bomb on the ring steps for the pin. Not as good as I expected, but better than last month. They've used almost no weapons all night, and only Matt Hardy bled, so maybe they are saving all the shortcuts for the main event.

Hogan vs. Michaels

Hogan won with a legdrop after 2 ref bumps. After the first ref bump, everyone did look to the back for Bret Hart. Michaels was clearly watching Terry Funk tapes because he did tons of Funk bumps in trying to do a one man show. Michaels put on a great performance and Hogan juiced like crazy, did his comebacks, etc. Michaels offered his hand to Hogan and they shook hands, so Michaels is back as a face and no rematch. By the end, this had more heat than any match except the Jericho-Cena bout. It didn't have the special electricity I expected, but you couldn't have reasonably expected a better match.
