I caution you that I haven't paid much attention to college football all year because I spend the majority of my time handicapping the NFL and playing poker. But when it comes to the bowl season it seems like some games just look way too easy. From my experience it is not a good time to be a contrarian. If you see a mismatch you should jump on it. So here is my first impression of todays games. Let's see if we can get a good discussion going on some college football.

GAME: Boston College at North Carolina
TIME: 1:00 p.m. EST
VENUE: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
LINE: Pick 'em

BC always seems to play well in big games. They missed out on a BCS game by losing to Syracuse on Nov. 27 when their QB was out with a broken hand. He is expected to be ready to go in this game. Also BC is moving to the ACC next year so they should be ready to show what they can do.
NC has the obvious home field advantage. They have never impressed me as a football team and have one of the worst defenses in the country.
I pick BC.

GAME: New Mexico at Navy
TIME: 4:30 p.m. EST
VENUE: PNC Park Pittsburg, PA
LINE: New Mexico -3

NM has a big size advantage on the offensive line and has one of top rated run defenses in the country. Navy runs the triple option which works good in high school or against over matched teams but I wouldn't trust them with my money. Neither team has played a very impressive schedule. I pick NM -3.

GAME: Texas Tech at California
TIME: 8:00 p.m. EST
VENUE: Qualcomm Stadium San Diego, CA
LINE: Cal - 11

Probably one of the biggest mismatches on paper of the bowl season. The only question seems to be will Cal be motivated after getting screwed out of a BCS game in the Rose Bowl. I'm sure not going to bet against them.
I pick Cal -11.

MY best bet of the three would be New Mexico.

Correction: the Navy/New Mexico game is being played at SBC Park, San Francisco, CA.

Notice the word "not".

Just trying to get peoples take on some games here Stew.

I find it hard to believe that in a community of gamblers, no one has an opinion on the biggest college football day of the year.

Myself I like the Michigan Wolverines on the money line over Texas. One of the winningest football programs of all time who has been to the rose bowl a few times. A lot of value with Michigan here in my opinion
