Horse #1 Bertrando's Return

Looking for a price here of 5-1 and up....

Bird of Paradise went out way to fast at Calder, had the lead at the top of the stretch and the closers came home. Longshot of 12-1 won the race.

Funny thing is, I was originally on that horse.

Ok so we are at a little bump in the road. One thing about horse racing, you can lose a few races in a row, and hit 1 or 2 and be back ahead of where you were.

We hit this at Philly, and the cash register is ringing...

We ran 2nd and got caught the last 50 yards and paid $8.20 to place...

This is before the $48 pick 4 at Calder which leaves us at $343.... with the pick 4 pending.

Race 8 at Calder the winner was #9, that keeps us alive for the pick 4 at Calder with 3 to go.

Philly 9th we finished 5th, got too far behind early and didn't have the big kick as in the last few races.... Favorite ran 4th, and had the same style as our horse...

So here is where we stand...

Pot sits at $303, and we have an open $48 Pick 4 ticket at Calder.

We won the first leg, and the second leg is in about 6 minutes.

I have a golden rule, that if you are alive in the Pick 3, 4 or 6, you don't bet the race as a single entry. Meaning I won't bet race 9 at Calder due to having 3 runners 2-5-6.

No need to bet against yourself, in this spot you are looking for your longest price to hit.

In this case the 2 & 5 offer a better price than the 6....

Good luck in that Pick 4...I didn't get down on it but it looks like you have a real decent shot

Calder 9th, the 6 wins as the 3/2 favorite....

The 2 went out too fast and the 5 was nowhere to be found, and I think he is still on the track running.

Not the results we wanted price wise, but we are 1/2 way home.

If we can get through this 3rd leg, we will be sitting in with a big shot with 1/3 of the field covered in the finale.

This is the key race, and it should be interesting.

Need the 1 or the 2 to get to the last leg of the pick 4.

Neither had it in the stretch..oh well

Calder 9th...... rand 2nd and 3rd as the 8-1 shot upset the applecart.

Rather disappoining end to the pick 4 run.

Back with Calders 11th....

Well if anything positive came out of the pick 4, the #11 was scratched in the 11th race, so it became a $36 ticket only.....

Pot increases $12 to $315....

Still very disappointing......

A lot of people bet the horses, I would love to do more of this, but with a lot more interaction.

This site has a lot more to offer than Service Plays, too bad people don't realize it.

We went off at 6-1 and finished 3rd....

Favorite didn't hit the board, if we had a longer stretch we would've won..... Photo finish for all places, it was that close..

It's snowing at Northfield, and it's 20 degrees, tough night to be racing, but they will race.

There should be some prices tonight, so if you're looking for favorites, tonight will likely not be it.

So bet smaller and get paid off.

So far we sit at -20 for this session.

They are all bombers at Northfield. I'm all ears when it comes to betting strategy and bankroll management though.
I like mountaineer. I stopped in there on my way back home from Pennsylvania once. Usually get some good prices on decent chances to win.

3 ran 3rd.... not the way I have seen these first two races with 3rd place finishes...

I have been to both of these tracks. Back in the day when Mountaineer was known as Waterford Park and the worst track in America, my grandfather owned horses there. I got a good education on the sport, and put it to good use.

yeah tough to make a pick on every race. It seems the longer you stare at it the better the favorite looks. Sometimes it seems I'm just trying to decide which one sucks the least.

I have a golden rule that when things aren't going the way they should. You stop for the night.

After 4 races and not even getting a sniff of a winner. 2 shows, a place and nothing.

It's time to stop.

So with that said..... this crazyness at NFP is over for me at least.

By the way what type of info do you like to use for handicapping? Other than the standard past performances. Brisnet has something called an ultimate race summary that is pretty good at helping spot live longshots. It gives you a little different perspective than the other 90% of the public.
