I hear ya Freak!! Opening day is coming

I feel this team will finish anywhere from 3 to 6 in NL central
Offense will be above average: Jenkins, Sexson,Burnitz, and Hammonds should keep the runs a flowing.
The problem is pitching and defense. D'Amico was ace material last year, but I doubt he can throw that good again. Others in rotation are nothing great (Wright,Haynes, Rigdon) but the #5 man is Sheets but remember this he is a rookie. More of a glaring issue is the bullpen, leskanic will be good but most nights he will not be a factor.
The defense is subject because of Loretta's injury and T. Fernandez at 3rd he is aged.
If pitching can suprise me this team could win 85, but I believe they are more likely to end with 74 wins.
[color:"#800080" SIZE="1" FACE="Verdana, Arial"][Edited 1 time by waymac on 03-29-2001 at 03:45 PM]

Hitters give Miller Park good reviews —
It took only a few hours of practice for Milwaukee Brewers manager Davey Lopes to conclude Miller Park's going to be a hitters' haven. "All my guys that can hit out of the ballpark were smiling. It looks like a hitters' park to me," Lopes said Thursday after the team's first workout at their new $399 million home. "Balls that normally don't go out, that didn't go out in County Stadium, will go out here. That's what the fans want to see." Richie Sexson didn't take long to test out the ballpark, hitting a drive off a Pepsi sign next to the scoreboard in center field. He estimated the shot at about 420 feet. "You're going to see a few more home runs here," left fielder Geoff Jenkins said. The players had few complaints after their first practice on the field. Paul Rigdon wasn't too worried about Lopes' prediction of a hitters' ballpark. He said it's too soon to tell after only a day of practice. "I have a job to do. I just have to go out there and pitch," he said.
Check the totals for games played there the first couple weeks of the season to see if the books have adjusted for the predicted increase in scoring. You could make some nice change off this.
For example, look at what Enron Field did to the totals of the 2000 Astros' home games. Using a total of 10 runs; 51 over, 25 under and 4 even. Compare that to the 1999 Astrodome games; 27 over, 47 under and 3 even.
So a new hitter's park shows an increase in scoring. But we will see if this is the case for Miller Park.

The Brewers so far are undefeated (3-0) in their new park.
"It was a great week," Brewers manager Davey Lopes said. "A lot happened. The anticipation and the excitement matched everything that everyone expected it to be and maybe even more. I believe there will be many exciting days and nights for many, many years at Miller Park."
"It's making all the difference in the world," Burnitz said of the new ballpark. "For the first time since I've been here, we're playing in front of 40,000 every night. I think we're feeding off of it."
