Spring training will be here sooner than you know. We start off the baseball area with this:

What is your favorite ballpark moment.

Name the park and what happened that makes this moment so special !!!!!

This should bring back some memories of days gone by

The days of the birds' of the chesapeake

As a kid in the early 70's my father would take me to memorial stadium to watch the greatest team to ever hit the diamond....5 20 game winners in one season,,,,, unheard of- lead by mcnally( sp?- i was young) and a young phenom by the name of Jim Palmer.....Magic was in the air!
I also have fond memories of the yankees in the mid to late 70's and my trips out of central jersey into the bronx ,,,,Thurmond Munson epitomized what a catcher should be, and catfish and the goose were unstoppable!
I think however the pirates victory over baltimore in the 79' series was perhaps a very fond memory for pitt fans! I must say it was impressive.
Who was a pirate fan in those days!

I have two that really stuck with me, both at the Astrodome.

1980 Gm 4 Playoffs - Houston vs Philly. I was in the second row behind the 3rd base dugout (great seats). I was 15 at the time. Anyone remember the controversial triple play?

1986 - Mike Scott throws a no-hitter against SF to clinch the division. I was standing on every pitch. What a great game !!

first game i ever went to - yankee stadium, 1968. mickey mantle, in his final year, was playing first base and batting clean-up. we didn't have a color TV at the time - i'll never forget my first glimpse of the field at yankee stadium, and the sound of bob shepard - STILL the yankee stadium announcer - giving the starting lineups... "batting fourth, at first base, number 7, mickey mantle. number 7."

chills........

I guess my favorite ballpark moment was being there when Pete Rose had his record breaking hit. The excitement & the ovation were astounding.

The moment I remember with joy was one hot July afternoon when I took my 13 year old sun to the park. In the 5th inning a torrential down pour hit. Most everyone ran for cover. Since it was a nice warm rain, my son & I decided to ride it out..along with 2 braless blondes in white tee shirts jumping around and hollering 2 rows down !! My son is 19 now and reminds me of that trip every baseball season.
I don't remember the score...take me out to the ballgame !!
