Hey Freak,

I know you are very busy this time of year with all the other sports, but what do you think the chances of an NHL contest this year? Monthly or weekly might keep more interest than a season long one. It might also have to wait until baseball is over, but that would be ok with me. Would it be hard finding sponsors or harder finding enough people to enter?

Just wondering.

Thanks

There will be a NHL contest or two that is for certain. I am really really swamped as you can imagine with Bad Man and all the contests going on.

I have no problem going out and getting a NHL contest, but there will have to be a good amount of interest, and I will likely need some help in running it.

Looking for feedback as always : )

A monthly contest would be awesome. Same idea as the POD but for hockey only, lines would have to be posted every morning and a winner every month, with a mininum of 20 selections per month to be eligible to win the prize. First and second place prizes if the amount of participants allows it. Count me in.

A POD contest with lines would be great but would be extra work posting the lines every day. I do not have the time to help out Freak as I am not always able to get online on a regular basis. I prefer the idea of a monthly contest though.

How about a Weekend Warrior of Hockey? We have to pick a number of games (from 7-10 or whatever)of Fri/Sat games (sides and totals or sides only). This would keep it out of the way of the NCAA and NFL contests, so not everything is happening the same day. Unfortunatley, this probably would work better as a season contest, and I just said I preferred monthly <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Another idea is we have a monthly contest where we have to pick every team once in a month. Whoever has the best record out of those 30 games is the winner. There would be no lines however, but you would have to have all 30 plays in that month in order to be eligable. How and when they are played is up to each person.

Thats all I have to contribute for now. Basically just different versions of past contests.

The POD is fine. But I also like poorboy's ideas which mix it up a bit (something different). Especially the pick each team once in a month idea.

I agree that posting daily lines might be a pain to keep up with, unless we all trust each other to post the (correct) line and book for our plays.

im in...i will volunteer to post the lines and help with the contest...

the question would be the scoring system...?

maybe we can just use the canadien puck line as the determining factor...
but the problem would be for example lets say Colorado plays the TERRIBLE COYOTES, who will be the worst team in the nhl this year.

the person would be a moron lot to lay the regular -1/2 point. but that line might be backed with a -250

any ideas on a scoring system?

I say use the puckline from the sponsor book. If a player wants to risk it, they can.

Unless we play the "pick each team once per month", then probably the moneylines are fine.
