It's a crazy NCAA Hoops season already....

On Friday #17 UCLA loses by 11 to Loyola Marymount who hadn't beat UCLA since 1942.

This is why we shouldn't have rankings early in the season.

Today

Butler lost at Evansville. You remember Butler who went to the NCAA title game 2 years in a row. Have they fallen off that bad?

Southern Illinois lost to Ohio Dominican at home 64-63. Who? Ohio Dominican??? You know this new Division 2 power who earlier this year moved up from the NAIA ranks. I know you are asking Ohio Dominican who? Panthers my friends.

Many more bizarre upsets to come. It's early still !!!

Add Cleveland St 71-58 winners over #7 Vanderbilt.

Want to add that Middle Tennessee St beat Loyola Marymount. Would they beat UCLA as well? Nahhhhhh

In a strange line movement Fairfield opened -3 at home vs Big East Providence. The line moved all the way to Fairfield -8.

Providence won 80-72.

In a very fishy finish.... Stanford favored by 14.5 to 15 over Fresno St.

Not one but two SEC teams go down in flames tonight along with a Pac 12 team.. Just got to love how these small school step up on the court to take down their big brothers. This rarely happens on the football field and to see it night after night on the hardwood is great.

Let's get it going with.........

South Carolina a 7 point road favorite over Elon. Elon wins 58-53. South Carolina had 1 lead and 1 lead only during this game.... 20-19 with 435 to go in the first half. Elon took the lead back 21-20 and never looked back. Pretty amazing.

This next one is even more amazing. There wasn't a line on this game from the mainstream books. Coastal Carolina beat LSU in front 1,039 people. What makes this even more amazing it's the second year in a row that Coastal Carolina has beat LSU. To make it more crazy... Coastal played without the three players who had the biggest impact on last year’s victory over the Tigers. One ran out of eligibility, another was kicked off the team and the third left the team after being suspended.

Now here's the irony of this, Coastal has only 3 wins against teams from the BCS level. You know LSU twice... the other........ South Carolina in 1993.

The Pac 12 embarrassment tonight comes from Arizona St which was a 14.5 favorite over Pepperdine. The Waves won 66-60. They trailed three times in the game 2-0, 4-3 and 8-7. Once they took the 9-8 lead with 16:41 left in the first half, they never trailed again.

I should mention Kent State as 9-9.5 point underdogs went into West Virginia and won by 10. They have what 6 freshman? They will crumble to the pressure, gotta love that message from the Kent St coach at the break. They did just that.

WTG !!

LOL the night wouldn't be complete with yet another PAC 12 team humiliated.

UCLA goes down in flames again. First Loyola Marymount now Middle Tennessee State. UCLA favored by 11 loses by 20!

Just got to love this stuff. Sad thing is... Loyola Marymount, MTSU and these other teams pulling off upsets will likely be nowhere to be found at tournament time.

You know I just love these upsets. They are just great. Let's get to tonight's upsets.

Pittsburgh ranked #9 and a 13.5 pt favorite at home against Long Beach St lost 86-76. It was 29-29 and after LB ST took the lead 32-29 with under 5 left in the first half, they never looked back.

New Mexico at home favored by 12 against New Mexico St lost 62-53. They were out scored 36-22 in the 2nd 1/2 after being up 5 at the break. Not that NM is a top 25 school or anything but this is a pretty big upset.

In a pretty bizarre one Oklahoma St needed OT to beat Texas San Antonio 90-85 as a 12.5 favorite. Surprising line as one would think OK ST would be vastly superior to TXSA but obviously not.

It's going to be a super long season for a bunch of teams.

Yesterday I failed to mention how lucky Oklahoma St was to win. They are down 3 with 10 seconds to go and UTSA has the ball trying to inbound. The pass is deflected and a OK St player gets it, steps back and drains a 3 to tie the game. Talk about lucking out there.

Let's get to Thursday's beatdowns!

The ACC takes a tumble as Ga Tech a 2 point road favorite over St Joe's loses by 13. I know it's only a 2 point favorite but this is still an ACC basketball team that lost and is supposed to be decent this year.

How about #19 Texas A&M a 5 point favorite losing by 9 to MS St. The score is a lot closer than this game was. At one point it was 31-9 MS St and they never headed in this one.

I am not going to focus on small school vs small school upset unless it's some crazy heavy spread involved. I say this before someone says hey Penn was a 2 pt dog and won at Rider by 6 in OT. Definitely not a game I am going to put a lot of substance in. By the way Penn a 2 pt dog won at Rider by 6 in OT today. :)

Friday night and the upsets continue...

Arkansas a 9.5 favorite loses to Houston by 9. Sounds more like a BCS bowl matchup than hoops right now.

I know I said I wasn't going to focus on smaller schools but this is just a major upset. Drexel favored by 13.5 at home loses to Norfolk St. This is one of those super ugly losses for a mid major that will hurt them at years end.

The ACC goes down in flames again in a rather embarrassing loss. Virginia favored by 9.5 at home loses to TCU 57-55. TCU in basketball is horrible !!!! 3-0 so far this year, we shall see what they are at years end.

PAC12 goes down in flames again #15 Arizona a 3.5 point favorite loses to MS St 67-57. Granted neutral court but still another top 15 team to lose to an unranked club.

To close with a small school faux pas... Liberty favored by 6 loses at home to Eastern KY 73-65...

Look for more upsets to come!

Saturday and upsets are all over the place. This is nuts !!!

This may be the biggest upset of the season, Presbyterian wins at #20 Cincinnati 56-54. Cincy was up 15 !!!! I mean how does this happen. Presbyterian is known as the blue hose, wtf!

They closed the game on a 24-7 run to win by 2. Totally nuts. Cincy shot 22 for 62 from the field at home which included a 1 for 16 start yet they led by 15 in the second half. The Big East with yet another embarrassing loss.

USC shows up again as an upset, they were a 9 point favorite at home and lost to Cal Poly Slo 42-36. I mean how can you be favored by 9 and in 40 minutes score only 36 points? Did I mention that USC was up 20-13 yes 20-13 at half time. They lead 30-24 with 15:13 left and could only score 6 points the rest of the way. They went 6 minutes before scoring at the 952 mark and remarkably still led 32-27. It was that ugly as Cal Poly only managed 3 points in that time frame. USC was outscored 15-4 the rest of the game. Just plain UGLY.

The Pac 12 wasn't done as Utah a 6 point favorite at home lost to Montana St 70-64. Montana St?? Are you serious? How sick is this.

We go back to the ACC and this is a big upset. Clemson a 13 point home favorite loses to College of Charleston 72-69. This game wasn't as close as the final score. Charleston led wire to wire and never trailed or was tied outside of 0-0. Big upset.

Remember Drexel from the other night who lost to Norfolk St. Some how they were only 4 point dogs at home to ACC Virginia and yes Drexel lost at home again this time 49-35. I only brought this up due to the horrendous score. It was 28-14 at the break in VA favor.

How bad is VA going to be this year as well?

Sunday and the hits keep coming......

From the SEC South Carolina a 11 point favorite loses to Tennessee ST 64-63. I believe this is the second time in a week that South Carolina has gone down in flames. It will be a long year for them.

This one is the biggest point spread bomb of the day... CS Fullerton favored by 13.5 and lose by 5 to Houston Baptist.... yes Houston Baptist... are you kidding me?

In a strange line Libery was favored by 7.5 over William & Mary and lost 65-64. I didn't think W&M was that bad or Liberty that good....

In a battle of prior upset teams, will this come as a surprise? TCU favored by 6 over Norfolk St loses 66-53.

Monday Upsets

#15 Michigan a 4.5 pt underdog upsets #8 Memphis 73-61. Question is simple... Is Memphis really a #8 team?

Detroit a 7.5 pt favorite over George Washington loses 86-73...

I know who cares.... Florida Intl a 10.5 favorite loses to Arkansas Pine Bluff 58-56....

Fresno St a 7 pt favorite loses to Manhattan 85-83...

Small schools still doing the deed to their big brothers........

I missed a few days and will do so often. On Thanksgiving their was some really bizarre lines for the little brothers.

Santa Clara getting 8 beat New Mexico 79-76 in OT

How bad is Arizona St going to be this year? They were 6.5 pt underdogs to Fairfield. Are you series a Pac 12 school a big dog to Fairfield. The athletes recruited by both school is so far apart that's what makes this so astonishing.

Indiana St was a 7.5 favorite over Big 12 Texas Tech and won 60-49 on a neutral court..

Harvard yes Harvard was a whopping 14.5 pt favorite over Utah and smashed them 75-47. To top it off, it was on a NEUTRAL court. How bad is Utah?

Strange strange stuff indeed....

Black Friday it was for the big brothers of college hoops:

#4 UConn favored by 7 lost to Central Florida 68-63. You had to know something was up with the line that low.

Cincinnati which lost prior as a huge favorite lost once again this time as a 7 point favorite at home to Marshall.

You remember Fairfield from yesterday, well they were a favorite by 1.5 today vs Dayton and lost 56-49. Fairfield must have a good team this year or Dayton like AZ St sucks.

Speaking of AZ St how the hell did they beat Wake Forest 84-56 ???? Damn....

Florida St a 3.5 favorite over Harvard lost 46-41.... Harvard must be really good this year....

Strange but true St Louis was a 1 pt favorite over Villanova..... they won and covered 80-68

Cal Riverside was favored by 2 over Boston College and lost 66-62

Neutral courts, home courts, it doesn't matter, the big boys are getting smacked around by lower echelon teams and this is what makes the NCAA Tournament so special compared to the Blow Crap Shit system in play for NCAA Football....
