Time to play the Game
Well here we are in the aftermath of what had to be one of most hyped #1 vs #2 match ups in quite a long period of time.

Did it leave you wanting more, did it satisfy you? Did it live up to the hype?

Would a second match up be in order?

These were two great NFL style defenses, two great coaches, some poor execution at key times and some great individual efforts. The game should get great ratings and a lot of people will say it wasn't a good game but those people would be wrong. The game was intense, hard hitting and it was all left out on the field. You can't ask for anything more.

Let's get to some topics of interest...

1. So how did the sports books do this week? They kicked ass for the third straight Saturday. There are way more games than last week that the % was extremely high on one side that either didn't cover or lost SU. So many I just can't list them all as I did last week.

2. This is a repeat now for the 4th straight week, teams can't just show up and expect to win. Can you say Nebraska? Can you say West Virginia? Can you say Michigan St, Ohio St and Arizona St. All of these teams were heavy favorites and only Michigan St and Ohio State escaped with wins. How do you lose at home to Northwestern favored by 18. How do you lose at home favored by 12 to Louisville?

3. I said this last week "Michigan State beats Ohio St. Nebraska beats Ohio State, Wisconsin smashes Nebraska, Michigan State beats Wisconsin, Nebraska beats Michigan State. Ohio State beats Wisconsin."

Well now we can add Northwestern beats Nebraska. Do I need to say more?

4. If you thought the scandal at Ohio State was something, stay tuned to what is about to happen at Penn St. It will make the Ohio State debacle look like child's play.

5. Conference realignment is totally out of control. The history of the game, rivalries, fans and players are being totally sold out. Where does it end? It ends when the money runs out and not until then. With the millions of people out of work, it's sad to see the GREED and nothing but GREED rear it's head in college sports. A total sad state of affairs to say the least.

The last topic just makes me sick, let's get on to the Top 10.

1. LSU..... LSU replaces Alabama in my poll after a gritty 9-6 victory. LSU faces Western Ky next week, travels to Ole Miss and then the game that has taken on new meaning. Arkansas.... Wouldn't things get totally interesting if Arkansas wins all the way and takes out LSU then you'd have 3 teams with 1 loss in the SEC West and maybe just maybe... Arkansas would be higher ranked than both AL and LSU. I love this scenario a lot.

2. Alabama..... I drop Alabama from #1 to #2. I can't drop them any lower. Yes they lost at home, yes they didn't play their A game on offense. The hole in the kicking game cost them and I can't see Stanford or OK St beating Alabama on a neutral field. They have MS St next week on the road and it will be interesting to see how Alabama reacts after this loss.

3. Stanford..... Remains at #3 and a ton of people will have Oklahoma St as #2 not here. I'll address that next. Elimination game #2 takes place this coming weekend as Stanford meets Oregon. I am sure the pundits will talk of how Oregon is too fast for Stanford yadda, yadda, yadda.... Maybe next year but not this time. Stanford will not be denied.

4. Oklahoma St..... OK St remains at #4. I know they are #3 in the BCS and may end up #2, but in my mind they are nowhere near Alabama. I also believe Stanford would beat them on a neutral field. 21 point favorites against KST and you need to hold on to the final play to keep from going to OT and win 52-45. Are you serious? I have been wishy washy on this team and until last week I didn't think they were for real. After this week I go back to on the fence with them. Next two on the road vs cupcakes Texas Tech and IA State and then they get beat by Oklahoma. I've been calling it this way for weeks and won't change my mind anytime soon.

5. Boise St.....Ho hum effort at UNLV but who cares. This was a foregone conclusion. They have TCU at home next week and this will be their final tough game in my mind and I will say it again, they go undefeated and won't be in the title game unless a lot of crazy things happen.

6. Oregon..... Like Boise a ho hum effort at Washington. The get their shot at redemption and can climb the charts with a win at Stanford this coming week. A possible scenario... Oregon vs LSU Part 2? Step 1 for that possibility is to beat Stanford or that dream will be just that a dream.

7. Arkansas..... A nice win over South Carolina after two ho hum efforts on the road the last two weeks. Tennessee and Mississippi St the next two weeks and then they can be HUGE party crashers vs LSU the last week of the regular season.

8. Oklahoma..... A convincing win over Texas A&M. A bye week next then Baylor and IA St before they beat Oklahoma St. Not much more to say here.

9. Clemson..... Sort of by default they reappear in the Top 10 without playing this week. Wake Forest up next and they should win out the rest of the way.

10. Virginia Tech..... Same as Clemson really, but this is their first time in my Top 10 this year. They were off this week and have GA Tech next. Will they fare better than Clemson did at GA Tech?

Dropping out #9 Nebraska and #10 South Carolina

I have absolutely no one bubbling to make the top 10.

One last comment on the LSU/AL game. CBS did it's best to keep people interested by showing images of good looking females. In the first quarter they were heading to a commercial break. They did a shot in the crowd of a girl in a white shirt and a girl standing next to her. In the row above there was guys to their left trying to talk down to them. The girl went to hold on to the girl in the white shirt and actually did a breast swipe and copped a fill right when the camera was on them. Funny stuff and not sure how many caught it. How many shots did we get of the Alabama cheer squad? It certainly was cleavage filled and shown for a reason.

In closing, I mentioned about the greed in college sports. I beg the powers to cancel the NBA season. When I hear players that are making tens of millions of dollars saying they can't feed their families that is over the top. I would love to be in their shoes and I am sure they wouldn't want to be in mine being unemployed for 19 months due to no fault of my own.

Spare me you can't feed your families, try to do what I am and then you can cry poor.
