Time to play the Game
Another week has come and gone so let's discuss what took place in week 8.

1. As I stated last week, teams still believe they can just show up and win. Arkansas, Alabama, Oklahoma and West Virginia all come to mind. Arkansas came back to win from a 17-0 hole. Alabama while they won and covered was only 6-6 at the half at home vs Tennessee. Oklahoma fell behind big, tried to rally a few times but never got over the hump. How they lose at home to Texas Tech is beyond me. We won't waste much time on West VA a 14 point favorite that got beat by a lot more than 14.

2. The BCS is still the biggest farce and joke around. Oklahoma St #1 by the computers? Are you serious? I like how everyone says the computers only have 1/3 of the say and humans have 2/3 of the say. Isn't it humans that make the programs for computers to run to come up with their numbers?

Why doesn't anyone say anything about this? Are people that gullible or just plain stupid.

3. Wisconsin.... how do you get beat on a hail mary? I know why the coaches called timeouts on the final Spartan drive but when it was 3rd and 8 why call time out? Spartans were going to allow you to play OT with them. Even if you stopped them, they punt to you deep in your territory and you kneel down to go to OT. While this loss was on a miracle play, I blame the coaches more. Note to mention they were up 14-0 in the first quarter.

4. Oklahoma..... Seriously losing at home to Texas Tech is pathetic. Is the Big 12 still the best conference in the land now? Iowa St gives Texas A&M a tough game, Tech beats Oklahoma. Well at least Baylor and Texas didn't play, they would've likely lost as well.

5. Did you know TCU was a -105,000 to win against New Mexico.

6. I have a trio of underdogs of the day. I can't split hairs with any of these 3. Oddly enough they were all 12.5 point dogs that won STRAIGHT UP!

Bowling Green won 13-10 over Temple. How can you lay 12.5 to 13.5 points and only score 10 yourself.

Tulane favored by 12.5 at home over lowly Memphis. Well at least Tulane scored 17 points but they gave up 33!

Navy favored by 12.5 loses to East Carolina 38-35.

So the USB awards go to Temple, Tulane and Navy.

7. Underdog of the Year goes to Texas Tech. How about the Texas Tech coach saying after the game in his interview on the field, we were 20 point underdogs! Too bad they were 29 point underdogs I thought coaches and players never paid attention to point spreads. So take that NCAA Governing Body........ they do, you can't fool us......

Let's get to this weeks poll. what a doozy this is going to be....

1. Alabama..... We now wait 2 Saturdays for the game that will settle it all.

2. LSU..... See Alabama above.

3. Stanford..... Yeah I know nobody agrees with this and everyone will have Oklahoma St in this spot. That's why I am FREAK. I am not like everyone. This team should run the table and then what are they going to do. See later rankings why.

4. Clemson.... The more I see this team, the more I like them. GA Tech and South Carolina games later in the season don't look too difficult as they once did.

5. Boise St..... I know they struggled against Air Force as 30 point favorites. I didn't move them up higher and pushed Clemson ahead of them. The schedule strength is going to kill them in the end. They go undefeated and won't be in the title game or even be the #3/#4 team, they end up likely going against the Big East champ. Sick.

6. Oklahoma St..... So here's why I don't have OK St as high as everyone else. After OK lost tonight, this game becomes OK signature redemption game and they will spoil the party for OK St. I've said it all along that OK will beat OK St. I am guaranteeing it happens for certain after OK lost tonight.

7. Oregon..... That opening loss to LSU wasn't so bad was it? They have a tough month of November coming up and as I have stated November will make or break a lot of teams. Oregon is definitely one of them.

8. Arkansas..... 11/25 will sum it all up for them vs LSU. I know they struggled vs Ole MS today, but that was the best 1/2 of football by Ole Miss in years...go find a better 1/2 against any top 10 team Ole MS has played in the last few years and you'll agree.

9. Michigan State..... They beat Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin in three straight weeks. That is quite a feat and will likely be a trivia question one day. I can't remember any team doing that. The loss to Notre Dame will hurt them in the end. The question is how will they do at Nebraska next week. If they win that game they don't lose until possibly the Big 10 title game or their bowl game... A sleeper team....

10. Wisconsin.....Drops 6 spots from last week #4. They took the brutal beat to end the game against MI ST. They never should've been in that position to begin with. They will likely see MI ST in the Big 10 title game. Revenge is sweet...

Dropping out #3 Oklahoma.

Can you make a case for them to be ranked above any of the other teams listed after that debacle at home as a 29 point favorite.

Again I don't have anyone bubbling and no team deserves to be bubbling.

Just think:

We are heading for a Stanford/ WI/MI ST Rose bowl.

Fiesta Bowl Boise St vs who knows from the Big Least. I'd love it to be Louisville/Rutgers wouldn't that be the ultimate shit on the BCS

Sugar Bowl LSU/AL vs Clemson or OK

I likely have the bowl games wrong but you get the idea.

Until next week, don't be afraid to reply, I like nothing more than talking college football.

Thanks for the comments dirty21.

Totally agree they are protecting the QB more and more in the NFL. They cried about the hits on KO returns and moved the ball so there would be more touchbacks. This hasn't changed a thing and scoring is up not down.

As for OK St, I personally feel they have benefited from pre season rankings and the cupcake schedule they played to start the year. The worst thing that could've happened for them was for Oklahoma to lose. Since there isn't a Big 12 title game this year and the fact Texas Tech won't be a 1 loss league team they are out. Kansas St cinderella season comes to a crashing halt the next two weeks. That will leave OK and OK St with 1 and 0 league losses come their matchup. OK wins and moves into the BCS as they will climb over them in the rankings, the BCS and have the tie breaker head to head.

Hopefully #91 is a good player and gets better. Be nice to see someone related in the NFL one day.
