Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to be suspended by the NFL on Monday or Tuesday, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will hand down the punishment against Roethlisberger under the league's personal conduct policy.
Sources told the Web site that Roethlisberger will not appeal the disciplinary action even though no criminal charges were brought against him in a sexual assault case in Georgia.
Prosecutors in Georgia said they decided not to pursue charges against the two-time Super Bowl-winning QB because they could not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
A 20-year-old college student accused Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting her at a nightclub in Milledgeville, Ga., on March 5.
Roethlisberger is expected to be at the team's practice Monday, the National Football Post reported. It will be the first official practice for the Steelers since the end of the 2009 season.
Roethlisberger also could face additional punishment from the Steelers. Team president Art Rooney II said the Steelers will consult with Goodell to determine the next step in the process.
Although Roethlisberger did not face charges in Georgia, it marked the second time within a year that a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her.
In July 2009, a Nevada woman filed a civil suit against Roethlisberger, claiming he sexually assaulted her one year earlier at a celebrity golf tournament.
The Steelers are +1100 to win next year's Super Bowl.
