Here is today's opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start:

AQU Race 1 Clm $25,000 (12:30 ET)

#2 Mighty Ego 5/2
#1 Missing Link / #1a Cats Kitty 5/1
#7 Gimmeanotherwink 2/1
#3 Ave. of the Pines 7/2

Analysis: #2 Mighty Ego went gate to wire to beat state bred maiden special weight company last out in his second career start and shares top last out speed fig honors with the ML fav in here. Four others in here also graduated last out, but all did it in maiden claiming company. The gelding owns a solid pace profile with good early and mid pace numbers, but with five in here stretching out from sprints, Chavez may need to find a tracking trip. It does not look like a real tough spot here for his first go against winners.
#1 Missing Link may benefit of a fast pace develops. The colt can close some ground but gets off poorly and draws the rail. His maiden score came in the slop and there is some rain in the forecast. His entry mate #1a Cats Kitty stalked the early pace and faded to finish eighth for a $25K tag last out, a race that produced four next out winners.

Wagering

WIN: #2 to win at 9/5 or better.
EX: 1,2 / 1,2,3,7
TRI: 1,2 / 1,2,3,7 / 1,2,3,6,7

Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:

AQU Race 7 Hcp $15,000s (3:20 ET)

#5 French Song 8/1
#8 Afleet Alexandra 5/2
#6 Chippewa Court 9/2
#4 Crazy Thing 8/1

Analysis: #5 French Song was beaten just a nose last out in a game effort versus $20K claimers. The mare was claimed out of the race by the Brown barn that is 27% winners (with a +ROI) first off the claim. I like the barn and the jock switch and the 8/1 ML is not too bad either.
#8 Afleet Alexandra is well spotted here dropping out of a state bred stake where the mare checked in fourth. She beat state bred Alw-2 optional claimers two back off a two month break. She makes her third start of her current form cycle and is the logical one to beat here, although the price will be light and she has to carry "No Go" around the track.

Wagering

WIN: #5 to win at 9/2 or better.
EX: 5,8 / 4,5,6,8
TRI: 5,8 / 4,5,6,8 / 2,4,5,6,8

Live Longshots:

These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.

Aqueduct

R2: #4 Florida Girl 15/1
R3: #4 Shoptate 8/1
R4: #7 Starlit Sea 12/1
R4: #6 Quoin 12/1
R5: #2 Rovic’s Wealth 10/1
R5: #3 Hurricane Heat 8/1
R6: #8 Senegal 8/1
R6: #5 Red Hook Bulldog 8/1
R7: #5 French Song 8/1
R7: #4 Crazy Thing 8/1
R8: #8 Stratton’s Girl 12/1
R8: #2 Northern Warrior 10/1

Good luck today!

#7 Canary Diamond- 4 year old only started once, a 3rd place finish sprinting. She is well bred to go long on the turf coming from a 3 time grade I winner on the grass. New trainer adds blinkers, a 42% winning move for him, stretches her out 29% adds Lasix 40% and has the hottest rider on the grounds aboard. She has fast works and figures to romp.

Battagliaspicks 2-7-5

#2 Ultra Awesome- trainer Yakteen, lost this filly to the claim box when she won for 12.5k making it three in a row. He is a small time trainer and any time a guy reclaims one that is a great sign. He quickly won with her again last out. Bejarano rides her again and they are the ones to beat.

Santa Anita Race #7 Courtesy of Ellis Starr

#2 Glorified / #5 Heartless Vixen - Fair odds 9/5 (uncoupled entry)

Exactas: 2 over 1,4,5 and 1,4,5, over 2 then also 5 over 1,2,4 and 1,2,4 over 5
#1 is Alpha Kitten, $5 is Emmy Darling
Note: If either Glorified or Heartless Vixen is scratched, the remaining entrant would have fair odds of 6/5 under the “Why run 2 when 1 will do?” rule.

Glorified gets leading jockey Bejarano for his first start since April, having won her career debut at this 6 ½ furlong trip so having proven capable of firing a winning shot fresh. Considering she missed by a neck in the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes 2 races before the one that led to the layoff she may have these nw2x allowance types outclassed. That being said, since trainer Ron Ellis has two entrants if we bet one we’ll bet the other, that one being Heartless Vixen, who comes back from an 11 month layoff with a perfect 2-for-2 record, impressive in both wins and having proven capable of firing a winning shot off the bench as well, with Espinoza up for today’s race as he’s been for both her previous starts.
