Boston Celtics at New York Knicks (+9.5, 195)
The Celtics have lost three of their past four games and have struggled with their outside shooting.
But the New York Knicks seem to be a cure for Boston the past few seasons. The Celtics are 20-8-1 ATS in the team’s past 29 meetings, including 8-1-1 ATS in their past 10. Last season, Boston averaged 108 points per game in the team’s four meetings.
And the Celtics need to get on track on offense. The team is shooting just shy of 35 percent beyond the arc on the season, but has made just 14 of their past 65 attempts from distance.
Meantime, the Knicks are allowing opponents to score more than 109 points per game and shoot better than 34 percent from down town.
Boston needs to get on track offensively, and a game against the Knicks is just what the doctor ordered.
Pick: Celtics -9.5
Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Bobcats (-1, 185)
The Indiana Pacers are searching for a new identity and they may have found it – on the defensive end.
The team is allowing nearly 100 points per game, but opponents are shooting just 43.5 percent from the floor against them, the fourth-lowest mark in the league. Indiana actually is one of the best under plays going, posting a 2-7-1 over/under record in the early going. The Bobcats also tout a solid defense, yielding 89.6 points per game, the third-lowest mark in the association.
And it’s not like these two teams light up the scoreboard when they meet.
Three straight and five of the team’s past six meetings overall have failed to top the total, with one even going to overtime – and still falling short of the number.
Pick: Under 185
